Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele a Queen of the Watch Business
And this is not surprising, because for the majority of the men-managers it is rather hard to understand the exact demands that women usually make on ladies' timepieces, so that this product family slips their attention.Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele helped her brother with the creation of men's timepieces.I think that many people will agree with me, that men are perfect leaders because of their nature features. And of course it is not surprising to hear that a man stands in the head of a big mature company, watch*** for example. But as soon as one hears that the immediate supervisor of world-wide known watch and jewelry company is a lady, he becomes rather surprised and even intrigued by this fact. But it is known man is usually behind practically each and every business-lady. Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele, the head of the Chopard (heads) Company jewelry department, is not the exception. It is her brother Karl-Friedrich with whom she following the steps of their father Karl Scheufele, shares the management of the company taking part also in the development of the watch division managed by her brother. Despite of that woman herself is a rare bird in the horology community. And this fact only does credit to Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele, who with the help of her female intuition and entrepreneurial talent promotes ladies' watch collections so that they enjoy high demand.
Vladimir Putin Makes a Presidential Present of Swiss Watch to a factory worker
He admitted that the men in their family usually wore fake-brend watches because of the economy it brings. Such imitations rare cost more than 1,000 roubles, or £ 20 were his words. In another case, it would take Dmitry's father two years to save enough money for the purchasing of Putin's watch. And thus princely gift became a family relic. As a reference Blancpain manufactures mechanical swiss watches for the luxury market. It is hard to assume the exact motives which ruled Prime Minister that day. Perhaps the fact that victor Zagaevsky imparted Putin that both his two sons were serving in the Russian army. And thereby arousing some patriotic feelings in the former President.(But it is not ruled out that Putin fingered such a generous jest simply to get rid of black Blancpain and thus to emphasize his devotion to the favorite brand - swiss and luxury Patek Philippe.)It is noteworthy, that this brand does not like public advertising. But as easy as Prime Minister gets his watch he grants it. Being recently in Tula, a factory town, Putin astounded plodders by gifting his latest luxury swiss watch to a factory employee Viktor Zagaevsky when the man asked for a memento. So the worker became a scoop in a moment by having £ 5,500 black Blancpain. Victor's son Dmitry recited that he had got the watch. But neither he nor his father could ever afford themselves to buy such an expensive thing like original swiss watch.
Vladimir Putin Makes a Presidential Present of Swiss Watch to a factory worker
For example, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, the second man after the President, wears the most expensive watch among Russian politicians. Rather defiantly you know, especially taking in regard that watch usually reflects the status of its owner. On Putin's right wrist one can notice $60,000 Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar watch. It is a surprising fact that the cost of that watch is practically equal to the amount of money President earns per year. So he is to be a devoted fan of Swiss watches as through 2003 Putin wore the same brand though another model - Patek Philippe Calatrava. Patek Philippe is considered to be a very conservative and expensive brand. Its designers work out a watches for rich people, presidents and politicians.Timepieces take a special place among politicians' accessories. We can easily prove that expensive luxury watch is the real standard of luxury consumption. As a rule lands, real estate, airs and yachts can not be seen by everybody except paparazzo or bailiff. But clocks on the contrary are something that everyone who watches TV new regularly can notice. And even despite of its high price sometimes it can be a good and rather astonishing present.Russian businessmen, political elite and art bohemia prefer gold swiss watches by best makers that have been on the market for several centuries.
Breitling AEROSPACE - The Original Watch in Movies
Talking about other technical characteristics of that swiss model of luxury watch we can't help mentioning WR 100m, Ref. E79362, 42 mm of the face. Plus blue dial - classic male color. And of course the price of $3,630 that makes this timepiece to be an original swiss brand. Thus Harrison Ford chose the Breitling Aerospace as his friend even not only on the TV screen, but also in private life. To help Ford getting the correct time, the Aerospace even comes with over sized hands. Since Aerospace was launched in 1985 it has undergone a numerous number of changes heading for the continual updating. But despite of all the changes it is still not uncommon to see Aerospaces without traditional bracelets. As a rule it is the bracelet type which can help give a good indication of the age of a watch and of it's master. More about Breitling watches. They usually have a large face (e.g. the Breitling for Bentley Motors model has a 48 mm Case Diameter) for better visibility and their analog dials allow displaying more information. Many models are provided with a purely mechanical automatic winding mechanism. So as for Indiana Jones he needs a sturdy watch so that's why titanium case which allows it to stay light yet air force strong, professional II bracelet with flip-lock, rotating bidirectional bezel, SuperQuartz (Breitling 79), dual time zone, time, day/date, timer, chronograph, alarm, Chronometer, analog and LCD digital display, back-lit are the main features of that watch model.

Review of the Garmin ForeRunner 405
I should also note that I ran both the Garmin software and Google Earth under VMWare Fusion on my Mac laptop with no problems, as native Garmin support for this model is not complete as of this review. Garmin has a central page of Macintosh software and support, which is quite nice of them. From those pictures, you can see just how much data the 405 is capturing: It's quite amazing, really. I also really like that you don't have to cable it up to download data: just walk within range of your PC running the Ant+ agent and voila! Data downloaded. A lot of work undoubtedly went into that feature, and the result is quite convenient to use.If you want to look at the data yourself, I've uploaded a copy of the shoe online to my webserver here. (25KB)Wearing the 405 is pretty comfortable although it stands above the wrist quite a bit, and due to the rigid shape, it's not something you'd wear for long periods of time. It's probably the most stylish GPS my gifts jewelry I've seen, though. Up close the bitmapped display and white LED backlights give it away, but overall its pretty unobtrusive. The high-contrast LCD and large font make reading the display quite easy, even when you're jogging. The Garmin software and website allow you to do all sorts of advanced training, including features like sharing workouts, exercise versus a remote or virtual competitor, pace alerts, etc, etc. It's quite the training system, especially when you consider the price.MSRP of the ForeRunner is $300, and they're available online for slightly less. Adding the heart rate monitor is another $50, the bike sensor is $60, and the foot pod is $110.Overall I was extremely impressed with the 405. As an exercise system I've seen nothing even close, and the cost is quite reasonable for what it does. The touch bezel and wireless inte***ce are more advanced than the Suunto X9i, and the improved GPS reception is pretty darn good. ncluded software, you can define all sorts of workouts to download to the shoes online, and have it alert you if you're over and under your pace. In combination with the optional sensors, I can easily see the 405 being the tool of choice for really hard-core runners. Unfortunately, I'm not, so my review of this is necessarily a bit lacking. I did try it out, though, so I do have some data to show you.For this test, I captured an urban walk in San Diego. The first two pictures are from the Garmin software, which, while it lacks fancy graphics, excels at data analysis. Here's their map view: And here's their customizable graph window beneath it, showing speed on one axis and elevation on the other: There are also text displays and analysis tools galore; as I said this is really designed for the serious runner. You can also view the data in Google Earth via a menu selection, a very nice touch: Here I've zoomed into the only place on the route with bad data, a short section where I walked between two six-story-plus buildings that blocked its view of the sky: I was on the south side of the street, so you can see my position drifted north until the view returned.
Review of the Garmin ForeRunner 405
The 405 is available in two colors: the black/grey shown here, and also a greenish colored version I've not seen in person. Considering the technology packed inside it, the watches is remarkably clean in appearance which helps reduce the apparent size when worn. Garmin was able to reduce the physical buttons to only two by using something we've previously only seen on Tissot watches - touch sensing. Unlike the T-Touch watches, the Garmin has a metal bezel that serves as the touch su***ce instead of the screen itself. In practice, you press a button to activate the touch sensor and use the four cardinal points of the bezel to move forward and back, and also scroll up or down by dragging a finger around the bezel in a circle; gestures familiar to anyone with an iPod. While it takes a little getting used to, the inte***ce is quite natural. When you flip the web gift over, you can see the two metal contacts where the charger clips on, and also that the watch actually extends into part of the band where the antenna is concealed. On the right is a picture of what you get in the box, including charger, cable and "it looks like a memory stick but isn't" Ant+ transceiver: (As a humorous aside, I managed to lose the Ant+ stick, and had to pay $50 for a replacement. Up for review today is the Garmin ForeRunner 405, a sophisticated GPS training watches online. This one has some new and interesting features both in design and use, so kick back for a long, detailed review. To get us started, here's a quick feature list of the 405:The 405 has wireless sync and data transfer using a proprietary standard called Ant+. This supports other devices at the same time, so the 405 can also work with a paired heart rate sensor and display its data. Data transfer to your PC happens automatically whenever you get within range, via a small USB transceiver. There are also optional foot pods, and bicycle speed/cadence sensors as well.Internal rechargeable battery, with included clip-on charger. The battery is good for about two weeks of non-GPS use or eight hours in training mode.Bitmapped display with white LED backlight, 124 x 95 pixels.48m by 16mm, 60g. Pretty chunky, but wearable. This is smaller than the Casio Pathfinder.IPX7-waterproof, meaning IEC 529 IPX7, or 1 meter (3ft) of water for 30 minutes. In other words, OK for running in the rain but that's about it.Mineral glass crystal.Records up to 1,000 laps and 100 waypoints. No map display or map download, due to the size and resolution of the screen.Innovative touch-sensor bezel and user inte***ce.
Just Released: Dievas Flieger Timer
The Flieger Timer is a highly legible and very cool looking timepiece that we are itching for a chance to review. This mix of styling, a rare movement, and theexclusivity of a serialized limited production run will set you back acool $780. Dievas watches recently released the Flieger Timer, a handsome watch reminiscent of old school German pilot watches. Although Dievas is more readily known for their tritium tubed dive gift for man like the unique Divergraph and very cool Noble Professional, the Flieger Timer carries the Dievas' typical flare for design and classic styling. Dievas has gone the extra mile with the 50 piece limited runof this watch packing in features like an AR sapphire crystal, screw-in22mm lugs, 42.5mm case with sapphire display back. The luxury gift ispowered by an ETA 2452 automatic movement with a 42 hour power reserve. This ETA is a somewhat unusual movement that beats at a subtle 18,000 vph as opposed to the more standard variation of the ETA 2824 which runs at 28,800.You can assume that the availability of a movement like the 2452 hassomething to do with the extremely limited run of this model.Aswith any Flieger styled web gift, visibility is key. On the Flieger Timer, the matte black dial is juxtaposed by the bright red hands, clearly printed numerals, and the traditional triangular 12 o'clock marker. Unlike otherDievas dive watches, the Flieger Timer does not use tritium tubes forlow light reading but reverts to the gold standard C3 Superluminova(blue) for night time duty.
Review of the Citizen Promaster SST (JW0010
Like the difference between a Toyota and a Lamborghini, both are cars capable of travel, but one exhibits a passion and flare for more then just travel. The SST is not a perfect watch, but it is a passionate watch, built for people who are passionate about watches -- not just about checking the time, or wearing a recognizable brand. The Citizen SST is a great looking upper mid-level quartz chronograph with a laundry list of features and a very unique and bold aesthetic. It is a multifunction ugg that was designed for daily use, its features and functions *** in their application. This watch has some spirit, something intangible that made it fun to wear. Citizen lists this watch at $850 but it can be found for less then $700 online. For that price, you get a watch that is unique, well built, and designed around the details. The left dial counts whole seconds while the right dial measures 24hr time. The center dial houses two hands: one measures 1/100th seconds, the other 1/10th. Both hands spin at the same time once the chronograph is activated. The 1/100th hand becomes a red blur that obscures the travel of the other hand. The ability to measure in 1/1000th seconds may not be of daily use, but the feature is a good example of attention to detail, and an indication of passionate ub gift design. This is a very well-planned watch as it heralds evidence of many years of experience *** watches that the everyday man (or woman) wears. Citizen is good at the details, and they didn’t miss a beat on the Promaster SST. The Bracelet The bracelet on the Citizen Promaster SST is chunky, heavy, and solid in every way. It is well made, fits together well, and is pleasing in both shine and feel on your wrist. The clasp is solid with little to no wiggle and the push button activation is sharp and built well. The bracelet on the SST has only one flaw: it is very heavy. Fortunately, for people as weak wristed as myself, Citizen has also made a titanium version. Conclusion I have had a series of Citizen watches, and I have liked most of them. Of the ones that fell thorough the cracks, it was always clear that Citizen had just ignored the details and followed the cookie cutter mold of buy ugg ***. But the SST shows that there is still some (good) lunacy at Citizen. The watch is huge, and unlike anything else on the market. Its chronograph is accurate to 1/1000th of a second (1/100th is displayed on an analogue register) while still allowing for 24hr total timing. In this situation, crazy is good. It keeps companies away from boring, cookie cutter watches that we have all seen before. It keeps them creative and focusing on the passion found in the details.
Review of the Citizen Promaster SST (JW0010
Even though there are only four buttons (including the crown), the SST is very easy to use and the controls feel intuitive after only a few minutes. The large main hands make reading the time *** and the companion LCD gives you instant access to additional information like supplementary time zones, chrono values, and alarm settings. The LCD is very high contrast, *** it unusually easy to read. The inclusion of an awesome red back-light makes the screen usable at any time by simply holding down the top chrono pusher. Many of the SST's details are in the dial; the three-register counter that takes up the most of the upper half of the dial is an original design and its automotive aesthetic is very clean and purposeful. So much of what we find appealing about watches goes beyond the case dimensions, the movement, the crystal, bracelet or strap, and into the details of the watch. It is the details that matter to watch lovers, things like the hands, lume colour, depth of the dial vs. the thickness of the crystal, the on-wrist weight of the watch. Is the movement noisy? If the sale uggs has multiple functions, are they *** to access and easy to read? Details, are what makes a watch unique, complete, and set it apart in the market. Unlike functions, caliber, or finish, details are what a lot of us pay for when buying a new watch. The Citizen Promaster SST is a watch with interesting details. Yet another ana-digi watch from Citizen, this one is designed as something of a race watch, capable of measuring split seconds and with an aesthetic clearly lifted from the instrument cluster of a sports car. The feature list is beyond standard as the SST has several cool tricks up its sleeve: Stainless steel case with black ion plating (available in Ti).Water resistant to 200m (660ft).Non-reflective synthetic sapphire crystal.1/1000th second chronograph (24hr max).Red backlit LCD.Average Speed Calculation.World Time.Alarm.99-minute countdown timer.Rotating slide rule.Screw back case.Solid stainless steel bracelet with inset push button fold over clasp.Movement: U700 Eco-Drive.7 Year Power Reserve. The Case This is a large the best ugg; it measures in at 47.5 mm including the crown, but rides tight to the wrist at 13 mm thick. With such a considerable width this is a watch you will not soon forget; its ironclad grip on your wrist is a constant reminder that you are wearing something considerable. The case is large and the chronograph buttons are angular like the paddles on a pinball table. At the hinge for each button is a very cool looking hex bolt. The mode button is located at 8 o’clock and pressing it will cycle through all of the better ugg functions. Using the functions is as easy as using a chronograph. The crown is not used for standard time setting; it is actually used to change the main settings of any feature.
